HI! My name is Kaitlyn Olson Blend and I’m so excited to be joining Bear Creek Camp! I grew up going to an ELCA camp in North Dakota, Badlands Ministries, which changed my life in so many ways. This is where I had my first job as a camp counselor, found a love for teaching youth, met my husband, Carter, and thoroughly enjoyed learning about theology and Lutheranism. For the past five years, I have been serving as the Faith Formation Director for St. John Lutheran Church in Dickinson, North Dakota. I’m also currently working towards a Master of Arts degree in Justice and Reconciliation from Luther Seminary. Outside of the ELCA and social justice, my passions include reading books, making my own clothes, and planning trips to basically everywhere.
I’m elated to be coming back to outdoor ministry, where I believe faith is most uniquely found. At camp, “God moments” are found in the trees, around the campfire, through stifled giggles at bedtime, and in all the other everyday moments where we are reminded how fully present God always is. I am looking forward to meeting the campers and families that call Bear Creek Camp home. Carter and I, along with our kitties Gray and Crux, cannot wait to see you soon!
